The family ski resort in the pine forest.

From Tbilisi: 3 h, 190 km

Bakuriani is the older, gentler counterpart to Gudauri: a resort village at 1,700 m in the pine forest above Borjomi, with slopes for families and beginners, sledging, horse rides and a slower pace. Summer brings cool air and walks in the forest.

The drive from Tbilisi takes about three hours via Borjomi. In winter the last thirty kilometres climb through the forest; the SUV is the comfortable choice.
