How much a private driver costs in Georgia in 2026, from economy to premium
In October 2026 a full day with a driver out of Tbilisi and back cost about 250 to 450 GEL (95 to 175 USD) in an economy sedan such as a Toyota Prius, 350 to 650 GEL (135 to 250 USD) in a comfort or business car such as a Toyota Camry or Hyundai Staria, and 600 to 1,300 GEL (230 to 500 USD) in a premium Mercedes V-Class or large new 4x4, while an S-Class cost 300 to 690 USD for eight hours. The price is per car, not per person. One way from Tbilisi to Kazbegi, the cheapest economy sedan cost 210 GEL (81 USD), business class 264 to 520 GEL and a V-Class 500 to 760 GEL (190 to 290 USD), so compare quotes within one class and check that fuel, waiting and the driver's nights are included.
What does a car with a driver cost per day in 2026?
It depends on the class of car. A full day out of Tbilisi and back, 8 to 10 hours and up to about 350 km, cost about 250 to 450 GEL (95 to 175 USD) in an economy sedan in October 2026, about 350 to 650 GEL (135 to 250 USD) in a comfort or business car, and about 600 to 1,300 GEL (230 to 500 USD) in a premium Mercedes V-Class or a large new 4x4. A Mercedes S-Class cost 300 to 690 USD for eight hours. All these prices are for the whole car with fuel.
Compare quotes within the same class. Most driver prices for Georgia found online, including those in most travel blogs, are for economy cars from driver marketplaces, and a premium car on the same road costs two to three times more. On GoTrip, a marketplace of over 500 drivers, on 19 October 2026, business-class Camry and Avalon sedans cost 20 to 70 percent more than the cheapest sedan on every main route, and a Mercedes V-Class 2.3 to 2.7 times more.
- Economy. A sedan for up to three people, such as a Toyota Prius, Ford Fusion, Hyundai Sonata or Opel, or an older minivan such as a Honda Odyssey, Mitsubishi Delica or Mazda 5. About 250 to 450 GEL (95 to 175 USD) a day for the sedan and 300 to 550 GEL (115 to 210 USD) for the minivan. Most of these sedans are listed for three passengers and two or three suitcases.
- Comfort and business. A newer, larger car, such as a Toyota Camry or Avalon, a recent Mercedes E-Class, a Hyundai Staria, Toyota Sienna or Kia Carnival. About 350 to 650 GEL (135 to 250 USD) a day.
- Premium. A Mercedes-Benz V-Class, a Mercedes-Benz S-Class or a new Toyota Land Cruiser, Lexus or Land Rover. A V-Class or a large 4x4 costs about 600 to 1,300 GEL (230 to 500 USD) a day. Tbilisi chauffeur firms asked 230 USD for eight hours in a V-Class and 300 to 690 USD in an S-Class, depending on its generation, and one firm 780 USD for eight hours in a premium car of your choice.
- Minibus for 10 to 20 people, usually a Mercedes Sprinter. One way from Tbilisi to Kazbegi from 648 GEL (249 USD), about three times the economy sedan price.
- Half day, such as Mtskheta and back. About 90 to 180 GEL in economy. One Tbilisi firm asked 350 USD for four hours in a premium sedan or SUV.
- Season. Street and app taxis to Kazbegi went from 120 to 150 GEL to 150 to 180 GEL in July and August 2026. Book July, August and the New Year week early, and premium cars earliest, because GoTrip listed only three V-Class vans to Kazbegi.
Why do private drivers in Georgia cost from 50 to 300 dollars for the same trip?
Because the same road is sold in different cars, by different drivers, with different guarantees. On 19 October 2026 the road from Tbilisi to Kazbegi cost about 50 USD by Bolt, 81 to 94 USD in the cheapest economy sedans, 100 to 200 USD in business class and 190 to 290 USD in a Mercedes V-Class, while an S-Class cost about 500 USD. A low price is not a trick in itself, but it usually buys less car, less service and fewer guarantees.
- The car, its class and its age. An economy sedan such as a Toyota Prius seats three with two or three suitcases, and four of the nine cheapest sedans to Kazbegi ran on gas (LPG or CNG) to keep fuel costs down. A 2022 Mercedes V-Class seats seven in leather seats with a suitcase each, and a new Land Cruiser has four-wheel drive and high ground clearance. A newer, bigger car costs more to buy, insure and run, and the price follows.
- The driver. A full-time professional who drives the mountain roads every week, speaks English or Russian and works for a company or a rated platform is not the same as someone driving the family car in spare time. Ask how long the driver has done this work, which languages they speak, and whether the car and its passengers are insured.
- What is in the price. Fuel, waiting, photo stops, tolls, child seats, flight tracking and a driver with a name sign in arrivals come with most fixed prices, but not with all of them. One Tbilisi firm adds 10 EUR for a child seat and 5 EUR for the name sign, and street taxis carry no child seats at all.
- A fixed price or haggling. A street taxi costs whatever you agree at the kerb, and the price can grow on the way. Marketplaces and companies fix the price per car before the trip and send it in writing.
- Accountability. Reviews, a company name, written terms, a receipt and someone to call if the car breaks down are what you pay for with a company or a rated platform. A cheaper private arrangement often comes with only a phone number.
- Safety on mountain roads in winter. From 1 December to 1 March winter tyres are compulsory between Mleta and Kobi on the road to Gudauri and Kazbegi, and the police can turn back cars without them. On snow, a 4x4 with winter tyres and chains is a safer car for the Jvari Pass than a front-wheel-drive economy sedan.
When is an economy car enough, and when is premium worth paying for?
An economy car is enough for one to three people with light luggage on easy roads, such as Mtskheta, Kakheti, Borjomi, or Kazbegi from May to October, and it often costs less than half as much as a premium car. Choose a driver with good reviews and a fixed price, and it will do the job.
A business-class car, such as a Camry or a Staria, is the middle way for couples and families who want a newer car without paying for premium. Premium pays off in these cases.
- Families with small children. Room for the child seats, a pram and all the luggage in one car.
- Groups of five to seven with suitcases. One Mercedes V-Class instead of two smaller cars, so everyone travels together and the bags fit.
- Business travellers. A quiet car, a driver who is on time and a price agreed in advance, for meetings and airport runs.
- Winter trips to Gudauri, Kazbegi and Bakuriani. A large 4x4 on winter tyres for snow and ice from December to March.
- Night arrivals. A driver who tracks the flight and waits in arrivals with your name, instead of bargaining with drivers at the exit at 3 am.
- Long days on the road, such as Tbilisi to Batumi in 4 to 5 hours or more, where space and a smooth ride matter most.
Per car or per person, what do 2, 4 and 7 people pay?
Drivers in Georgia charge per car, so the share per person falls as the group grows. Take a day trip from Tbilisi to Kazbegi and back, about 310 km and 10 hours, which cost about 420 GEL (160 USD) in an economy sedan in autumn 2026.
- Two people. About 210 GEL (80 USD) each in an economy sedan. A seat on a group tour cost 60 to 120 GEL and the marshrutka 15 to 20 GEL each way, so a couple pays two to three times more for a private car and travels at their own pace.
- Four people. About 120 to 135 GEL (45 to 50 USD) each in a four-seat sedan or a minivan, close to the price of a group tour.
- Seven people. About 65 to 95 GEL (25 to 35 USD) each in an economy seven-seat van, less than most group tours. In a premium Mercedes V-Class the one-way trip to Kazbegi cost 500 to 760 GEL, about 70 to 130 GEL (27 to 50 USD) each for six or seven people. Marketplace minivans often seat only four to six, so ask for seven seats and room for the bags.
- Prices per person. In May 2026 one Tbilisi agency listed the same Batumi transfer at 280 GEL per person or 650 GEL per car. From three people up, the price per car wins, so always ask which one you are being quoted.
How much are the main routes from Tbilisi in each class?
These were one-way prices per car in October 2026. Economy and business are the cheapest offers on the GoTrip marketplace on 19 October, with the dollar figure it showed. Premium combines its V-Class offers with the prices of Tbilisi VIP transfer firms and international booking sites, converted at the National Bank rate of 17 October (2.60 GEL to the dollar, 2.93 to the euro). A day trip there and back costs about 1.5 to 2 times the one-way price.
- Tbilisi to Kazbegi (Stepantsminda), about 150 km and 2.5 to 3 hours. Economy sedan from 210 GEL (81 USD), older minivan from 264 GEL. Business sedan such as a Camry 264 to 350 GEL (102 to 135 USD), Mercedes E-Class 435 GEL, business minivan 408 to 520 GEL. Premium Mercedes V-Class 500 to 760 GEL (190 to 290 USD), Lexus GX or Land Rover Discovery 439 to 537 GEL, Mercedes S-Class about 1,300 to 1,400 GEL (500 to 530 USD). Bolt cost about 120 to 150 GEL. See our Tbilisi to Kazbegi transfer.
- Tbilisi to Gudauri, about 120 km and 2 hours. Economy sedan from 196 GEL (75 USD), minivan from 243 GEL. Business sedan 247 to 328 GEL (95 to 126 USD), business minivan 360 to 453 GEL. Premium V-Class 440 to 490 GEL (170 to 190 USD), S-Class about 1,080 to 1,140 GEL (415 to 440 USD). See the Tbilisi to Gudauri transfer and Gudauri in winter.
- Tbilisi to Kakheti. To Sighnaghi, about 110 km and 2 hours, an economy sedan from 191 GEL (74 USD), a minivan from 232 GEL, a business sedan 241 to 319 GEL (93 to 123 USD), a business minivan 341 to 435 GEL, a premium V-Class 440 to 469 GEL (169 to 180 USD) and an S-Class about 1,025 to 1,140 GEL (395 to 440 USD). To Telavi, an economy sedan from 141 GEL (54 USD). In October 2025 a traveller saw 133 GEL to Sighnaghi in Yandex Go and 145 GEL in Bolt. See the Tbilisi to Kakheti transfer and the Kakheti wine day.
- Tbilisi to Borjomi, about 160 km. Economy sedan from 213 GEL (82 USD), minivan from 270 GEL. Business sedan 268 to 356 GEL, business minivan 417 to 529 GEL. Premium V-Class 514 to 527 GEL (about 200 USD), S-Class about 1,230 GEL (473 USD). See the Tbilisi to Borjomi transfer.
- Tbilisi to Batumi, about 350 km and 4 to 5 hours. Economy sedan from 342 GEL (132 USD), minivan from 453 GEL. Business sedan 412 to 529 GEL (158 to 204 USD), Mercedes E-Class 680 to 785 GEL, business minivan 650 to 881 GEL. Premium V-Class 895 to 1,025 GEL (345 to 395 USD), S-Class about 1,845 GEL (710 USD). See the Tbilisi to Batumi transfer.
- Tbilisi to Kutaisi Airport, about 240 km and 3 to 3.5 hours. Economy sedan from 290 GEL (112 USD), minivan from 340 GEL. At one Tbilisi VIP firm a V-Class cost about 730 to 760 GEL (280 to 295 USD) and an S-Class about 1,550 GEL (600 USD). See Kutaisi Airport transfers.
- Tbilisi Airport to the city, about 17 km. Economy 25 to 35 GEL by Bolt, or from 54 GEL (21 USD) in a pre-booked sedan. Comfort sedans and minivans on booking sites about 105 to 150 GEL (40 to 56 USD). Premium vans and sedans such as a V-Class or S-Class about 220 to 440 GEL (85 to 170 USD). See Tbilisi Airport transfers, our guide from the airport to the city and taxis in Georgia.
What should a fair quote include?
A fair quote names the car and gives one price for the whole car, including fuel, waiting and photo stops, parking and any tolls, and on a multi-day trip the driver's room and meals. With GoTrip and OrbiTrip drivers in 2026, stops and waiting were in the price, there was no extra charge at night or for a flight two hours late, and a child seat was free if you asked when booking.
- The car. Model, year, seats and luggage space, in writing. A premium price should buy a named premium car, not just a Mercedes or similar.
- Fuel. Always included when the price is for a route. If someone quotes a day rate plus fuel, ask for the total.
- Waiting and stops. Photo stops and waiting during the day should be free. Ask how many hours a day includes, usually 8 to 10.
- The driver's nights. On a multi-day trip the driver needs a bed and dinner every night. Agencies that sell multi-day trips often include them. If not, agree in advance who pays and how much.
- Child seats. Ask for them when you book and give the children's ages. Children under 12 may not ride in the front seat.
- Not included. Entrance tickets, meals, tastings and the 4x4 up to Gergeti church in Kazbegi, which cost 50 to 80 GEL a car there and back in 2026.
- Tips. Not expected, but if you are happy, 20 to 40 GEL a day from the whole group is usual.
What do 3, 5 and 7 days with a driver cost?
It depends on the class. Count about 300 to 520 USD for three days, 500 to 880 USD for five and 650 to 1,200 USD for seven in an economy sedan, about 400 to 750, 650 to 1,250 and 950 to 1,750 USD in a business-class car, and about 700 to 1,500, 1,150 to 2,500 and 1,600 to 3,500 USD in a premium V-Class or large 4x4. Entrance tickets, meals and hotels come on top, and so does the driver's night if the quote leaves it out.
The easiest saving is not paying for days when the car stands still. A driver who stays with you charges for every day, so if you sleep two or three nights in one place, compare that with separate transfers between towns and day trips from each base, as in our guide to day trips from Tbilisi. If you drive and have a week or more, a rental at about 30 to 45 USD a day plus fuel costs much less, and many people mix both. Our guide to renting a car or hiring a driver compares them, and how much a trip to Georgia costs puts the car into a full budget.
- Three days from a Tbilisi base, such as Kazbegi, Kakheti, and Mtskheta with Uplistsikhe. Economy sedan about 300 to 520 USD, economy minivan 370 to 650 USD, business 400 to 750 USD, premium 700 to 1,500 USD.
- Five days, such as Tbilisi, Kazbegi, Kakheti, Borjomi and on to Kutaisi or Batumi. Economy sedan about 500 to 880 USD, economy minivan 600 to 1,100 USD, business 650 to 1,250 USD, premium 1,150 to 2,500 USD.
- Seven days, the loop in our one-week itinerary. Economy sedan about 650 to 1,200 USD, economy minivan 800 to 1,500 USD, business 950 to 1,750 USD, premium 1,600 to 3,500 USD. OrbiTrip's own prices for its seven-day plan, booked leg by leg, added up to about 1,700 to 1,800 GEL (650 to 700 USD) for an economy sedan in September 2026. A car and driver kept for the whole week at 130 to 160 USD a day comes to 910 to 1,120 USD.
Is $550 for 4 days with a driver a fair price?
It depends on the car. In 2026, 550 USD for four days is a fair mid-market price for an economy sedan, a good price for a business-class car such as a Camry or Staria, and below the market for a Mercedes V-Class, S-Class or new Land Cruiser, as long as fuel, full days and the driver's nights are included.
The question comes up on Reddit again and again, and the answer changes with the class of car. 550 USD for four days is about 137 USD (360 GEL) a day.
- Economy sedan, such as a Prius or Sonata. Fair. Four full days cost about 380 to 700 USD, and 137 USD a day sits in the middle. With an economy minivan, or with the driver's room and meals included, it is a good price.
- Business class, such as a Camry, Avalon, Staria or Sienna. Good. Four full days cost about 540 to 1,000 USD, so 550 is near the bottom, as long as the car that arrives really is that class.
- Premium, such as a Mercedes V-Class, S-Class or new Land Cruiser. Below the market. Four days cost about 920 to 2,000 USD in a V-Class or a large 4x4, and a V-Class one way to Kazbegi alone cost 190 to 290 USD. At 550 USD expect an older or different car, short days or extras later, and ask for the model, the year and the plate in writing.
- Too much in any class. Two of the four days are an airport run and a half day in Mtskheta, or fuel, the driver's nights or waiting are charged on top.
- Ask for a day-by-day breakdown with the hours, the route and the car. A good driver or company sends one without fuss.
Driver or licensed guide, which do you need?
A driver takes you safely from place to place, suggests stops and waits, while a guide explains what you see and walks into the churches and museums with you. Most drivers are not guides, even when their English is good, and a guided day costs more.
In 2026 one licensed Tbilisi guide charged from 380 GEL for an eight-hour day including the car, fuel and parking, and from 575 GEL for a private Kazbegi day for one or two people, against about 420 GEL for an economy car and driver alone. An interpreter for a language the guide did not speak cost 85 GEL an hour.
A driver is enough for Kazbegi, Kakheti and the road to Batumi, where the views do the work. A guide pays off at Mtskheta, Uplistsikhe, Vardzia and in old Tbilisi. Some companies sell a driver-guide, so ask what that means before you book.
Will the driver speak English or Russian?
Russian is still more common than English among Georgian drivers, but English-speaking drivers are easy to find at the same price. Of the nine cheapest sedans on GoTrip from Tbilisi to Kazbegi on 19 October 2026, five drivers listed Russian only, two English only and two both. The cheapest English speaker cost the same 210 GEL as the cheapest offer overall.
GoTrip's driver filter offers only two languages, English and Russian, and Tbilisi VIP firms also promise English and Russian. For Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi or another language, book a guide who speaks it, and use a translation app for small talk with the driver. Our drivers speak English and Russian.
What are the red flags and scams?
The most common trick is at Tbilisi Airport. At the arrivals exit, drivers ask 40 to 70 GEL for a ride that costs 25 to 35 GEL in the Bolt app. They may say Bolt does not work at the airport, or ask you to cancel your app order and pay cash. The app works, and before you get in, check that the plate matches the one in the app. Our guide to taxis in Georgia explains the trick step by step.
- A driver who walks up to you in the arrivals hall or on the street. Use an app, or a driver you booked who meets you with your name on a sign.
- A low price per person that turns into a high price per car, or the other way round. Get it in writing.
- A quote with no breakdown, then fuel, waiting, the driver's nights or a mountain surcharge added on the last day.
- Full payment in advance by bank transfer or crypto to someone you found on social media. Fake package sellers cheat travellers this way, and a fair operator does not need it.
- A different driver, car or plate on the day from the one you were sent.
- A driver who drinks with you at the wine tasting. The limit is 0.3 per mille, and a glass or two can pass it.
- A premium car at an economy price. A Mercedes van quoted far below the premium range is often an older Vito or Viano rather than a V-Class, and a jeep may be a small crossover. Ask for the model, the year and a photo.
- A price far below the economy range. It often means four people squeezed into a car for three, or extras later.
Where can you book a premium car with a driver in Georgia?
In three kinds of places. Some driver marketplaces have a business filter, where a Mercedes V-Class, Lexus GX or Land Rover Discovery cost about 360 to 550 GEL one way to Kazbegi, Gudauri, Sighnaghi or Borjomi in October 2026. Tbilisi VIP transfer firms run S-Class, V-Class and Maybach cars at the higher prices above. Transfer companies with their own premium fleet, such as ours, sell a fixed price per car.
We are one of the premium options. Our cars are a 2021 Mercedes-Benz S-Class for up to three passengers and two suitcases, a 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado with all-wheel drive and high ground clearance for up to four with four bags, and a 2022 Mercedes-Benz V-Class with seven leather seats, a table and room for seven bags. The price is fixed per car and includes the driver, fuel, tolls, parking at pickup, waiting within our rules and child seats, from infant seats to boosters. At the airports we track your flight, the first 60 minutes after landing are free, and the driver meets you in the arrivals hall with a name sign and helps with the luggage.
There is no night surcharge, no deposit and no online payment. You pay the driver after the trip, in cash (GEL, USD or EUR) or by card, and you can cancel free up to 24 hours before pickup. The class you book is guaranteed, and if severe weather or a closed road stops the trip, we offer another car or time or cancel at no charge. Our drivers speak English and Russian. Book on the site or in our Telegram bot, and the booking card on this page shows today's price to Kazbegi. If the lowest price matters most, an economy sedan on a marketplace costs less, and for one to three people on an easy road it is a sensible choice.
When should you pay and how do you book safely?
Pay the driver on the day, at the end of the trip, or leave a small deposit at most. In 2026 GoTrip and OrbiTrip took no deposit and drivers were paid in cash at the end, while agencies selling multi-day tours asked for 10 to 20 percent in advance.
- Get the quote in writing, by email or WhatsApp. It should give the route day by day, the car model, year and seats, the hours, what is included, the currency and the cancellation terms.
- Book through a platform with reviews, or a company that publishes its terms.
- Get the driver's name, phone number and plate the day before.
- Agree the currency. A price in dollars can be paid in lari, so agree the rate too. Carry lari for tickets, tips and the Gergeti 4x4.
- Book trips in July, August, the New Year week and the ski season early, and premium cars earliest.
Questions and answers
How much does a private driver cost per day in Georgia?
In October 2026 a full day out of Tbilisi and back cost about 250 to 450 GEL (95 to 175 USD) in an economy sedan, 350 to 650 GEL (135 to 250 USD) in a business-class car and 600 to 1,300 GEL (230 to 500 USD) in a premium Mercedes V-Class or large 4x4. The price is per car and should include fuel and waiting.
Why are some drivers so much cheaper?
Because they sell a different class of car and service. The cheapest offers are usually economy sedans such as a Toyota Prius, many running on gas, with room for three and a few bags. Premium prices buy a newer, larger car such as a Mercedes V-Class, a full-time professional driver, flight tracking, child seats and a company that answers for the trip.
Is $550 for a car with a driver for 4 days too much?
Not for an economy sedan, where it is a fair price of about 137 USD a day if fuel, full days and the driver's room and meals are included. For a business-class car it is a good price. For a Mercedes V-Class, S-Class or new Land Cruiser it is below the market, so check which car will come.
How much does a Mercedes V-Class or S-Class with a driver cost in Georgia?
In October 2026 a Mercedes V-Class cost about 500 to 760 GEL (190 to 290 USD) one way from Tbilisi to Kazbegi and about 440 to 490 GEL (170 to 190 USD) to Gudauri or Sighnaghi. An S-Class cost about 1,300 to 1,400 GEL (500 to 530 USD) to Kazbegi. For eight hours, Tbilisi chauffeur firms asked about 230 USD for a V-Class and 300 to 690 USD for an S-Class.
Is a private driver in Georgia priced per car or per person?
Per car. Four people sharing an economy car to Kazbegi and back paid about 45 to 50 USD each in 2026, and two people about 80 USD each. Some agencies quote per person, so always ask which it is.
Do I have to pay for the driver's hotel and food?
On a multi-day trip the driver needs a bed and meals every night. Many agencies include them in the price. If the quote does not say, ask before you agree and get the answer in writing.
Do drivers in Georgia speak English?
Many do, and an English-speaking driver costs no more. Russian is still more common, so ask for English when you book.
How much is a taxi from Tbilisi to Kazbegi?
Bolt cost about 120 to 150 GEL one way in 2026, and taxis up to 180 GEL in July and August. A fixed-price economy sedan on GoTrip started at 210 GEL one way with stops and waiting included, a Mercedes V-Class cost 500 to 760 GEL, and a marshrutka seat costs 15 to 20 GEL.
