The slopes
Lifts from about 2,000 to 3,300 m, mostly above the tree line, with long open pistes.

Georgian Military Road, 2,200 m
Georgia's main ski resort, two hours from the capital.
Gudauri is a high, open resort above the tree line, built around its lifts rather than a village. The skiing is wide and sunny, the freeride is famous, and in summer the slopes become hiking and paragliding country.
There is no railway or airport nearby. Everyone arrives by road from Tbilisi, two hours up the Georgian Military Road. In winter a 4×4 and a driver who knows the Mleta serpentines make the difference.
